Re: Chinook Concourse Fresh Water Tank Replacement.

Your're right, we use 1gallon water bottles and keep one in the fridge at all times. However, it's a good idea to keep a 1/4 cup of chlorine in a full water tank at all times. This will eliminate "Beaver Fever" which is the same ameba that it found in beaver dams. One sip of that will keep...

Re: Camping at 30 degrees and Can't Get Warm

LP quanity and pressure readings can lead one down the primrose path. One of the most common errors can not be detected unless you regulary purge the air from the LP tank. Every time you top off your LP tank, a small amount of air remains inside and it can get to the point where where very little ga...

Re: House battery not charging when engine is running.

This may help. When I found out my 1998 Concourse was only putting 10 volts into the coach batteries, I was advised to check both sides of the battery splitter. It turns out that the battery splitter (located on the left side of the engine near the left headlight area) was charging the chassi side O...

Re: Cleaning chassis ground connections

I'm thankful I found this subject. My project for 2017 was to upgrade my ham radio station in my 1998 Concourse. Proper ground connections are paramount for this hobby and it is a safety issue for anything electrical. Getting into the ground connection area is an unpleasent task and unless you are a...

Re: Chinooks seen on the road

I live on the California coast and have taken many trips from home base all the way up to northern Washington. My average count is two per trip. The last trip I took I was about 50 miles south of Eugene OR and saw a Chinook parked at a truck stop so I pulled into the truck stop and looked for the Ch...

Re: electric dump valves

The power comes from the engine starting battery so the ignition must be turned full on to get power. The new models of the original electric valves work much better so upgrading to the new version is a good investment. A through rinse after dumping will prevent the valves getting hung up by residua...

Re: Chinook Ham Radio Stations

For those asking about a CB antenna location: With CB you are working with only 5 watts so it would behove you to keep it high and clear of obsticles. The safety rail on the roof works great. Be sure your whip is not too tall as to exceed the 14 foot highway laws. There are rail clamps available and...

Re: Dometic Refridgerator problem

I have a 1999 Concourse V10 with a Domestic refrigerator. I bought the Chinook 14 years ago with only 16k miles on it so there was not much wear on it. The unit ran well for about 7 years and then it made a steady down hill treck to the point it was obvious to install a new one. My point is that it ...
