So based on your username you have the Dodge based Chinook and the newer Ford is for the family member? So the Dodge Chinook is 440 powered? Was that factory or a mod? Any picks of the engine? I love me some Mopar power!

Probably doesn't have all the "newfangled" luxuries that you have, Skillet
I know I've seen that some of the more mature Chinooks did not have generators, and thus the refrigerator is at floor level. Kind of seems like the Chinook "let's market these to folks who are coming down from Class A's and still want to feel like they have it all but in a smaller package" didn't really ramp up until the mid- to late-90's maybe?

Re: Old meets new ....or , and. um..... old meets really old
The 440 in my chinook was swapped in by a previous owner but the 440 was an avaaible option from the factory from 1977-79. Mine is just a basically stock freshened up 1974 440-3 H.D. version from a class A mh. RV cam , decent exhaust, MSD R.T.R. distributor , and a carterbrock 750
If i ran a roof top a/c i woudn,t be able to fit in my garage so i raised up the fridge which is an all electric 12 volt compressor model which doesnt require all the venting the propane ones do , and then used those vents to install a 10k window unit below the fridge. It all works well and is quieter than a roof top but was a p.i.a. to set up and make it work well.
I have about 1/2" of clearance going in the garage.

Your correct blue-go the fridge on the old ones was installed at floor level .. But a generator was an availible option on them, but it was installed in the rear storage compartment behind the spare
tire area etc.
Which actually is a better location as far as noise goes as well as less heat to the fridge area. .... Not so good for weight distribution though i reckon.
