I get about 10mpg after the 4x4 conversion and 11-12 before the conversion.

Very interesting
Gave me the idea of replacing my club lounge by the U shaped dinette/bed !

You mean like in the '78 below, but reversed, so the U-shape dinette is on the passenger side, and leave the original sofa on the driver's side? Or... ?

Yes, that's it,
It will give me the much needed extra bed while still having a dinette & a comfy lounging area.
Those U shaped areas are quite comfortable when made with good upholstery and foam.
I have a U in my slide in Bigfoot camper but never thought of it for the Chinook....

Could you show us the passenger side of the interior. A true time capsule with same original upholstery as in the brochure pics
