Stopped at the casino in Charles Town,WV. And low and behold another Chinook was parked in the same parking lot. He has a 2000 Concourse with all sorts of modifications to enhance his dry camping. Also, he's the original owner and it's a diesel. He can't remember the last time he used shore power. Engine just turned 190k. I hope he joins the forum to provide some input.

Rooney,
No idea why the date difference but I wrote that on Monday. I hope this guy,Greg, joins the forum. He's been all over the country and has great ideas and mods to complement dry camping. He even installed remote control door openers for the rear entry door. Pretty cool.

Remote door opener? Everyone's doesn't lock/unlock all doors with the remote?
Would like to hear from this guy too. It's only the second diesel I've ever heard of existing. 7.3 I assume.

Nope. I use a key in all three doors. But even if I had a Ford remote unlocking fob (which I believe I could add to my Ford cab doors), it wouldn't unlock the Chinook rear door unless it was a special wire-up. The later Chinooks had many more standard items and add-ons, so perhaps the "all three doors wired to open with a system" was standard or an option. My guess is it would be Marksman or one of those though, not Ford. But I suppose it's possible they sourced a Ford door lock package from a van (they often have a third remote unlock dealie in the rear doors), or maybe Ford did offer it on some cutaways (?).

But no, not all of us. Some of us are still back here in the dark and simple ages, flipping our steps over manually and unlocking our doors with jagged metal sticks

Gary was correct, I just turned over 190K mi. on my single-owner 2000 diesel Concourse. It has been to all 4 corners of the country and most everywhere in between. I bought it new in 2000.
The remote entry unit I used was from Bulldog security, and, yes, it is a special hook-up. I used a Bulldog Security door lock/unlock module on the rear door to mechanically activate the lock. I ran the 2 conductor cable from the rear door to a point under the dash on the passenger side where the connections for the front doors were made. I also wired in a 'hidden' switch which unlocks the rear door. I've never been 'locked out'. The wiring for this came directly from the Bulldog instruction booklet with a special hook-up for the hidden switch.

Gary was correct. I have a 2000 single-owner diesel Concourse that just flipped over 190K mi. It has been to all 4 corners of the lower 48 and most everywhere in between.
The lock/unlock module I use is made by Bulldog Security and has 4 buttons on the remote. The 4th is for programming, but, the others are for lock all, unlock front, and unlock rear. I mechanically connected the rear door lock to a Bulldog motor and wired it to the module which is under the dash on the passenger's side where the front door wiring appears. I also added a 'hidden' switch to unlock the rear door so that I can never lock myself out. I have too much time on my hands.

GS.
