Ahh, Palm Beach is a rare place indeed.

I found a two week cancellation at a favorite county campground and wildlife refuge in Fort Pierce, so we left the fine landscaping of Palm Beach and Hobe Sound and headed north to Ft. Pierce via US 1. Btw, I’ve had the air conditioning on for the past two days! Yey.

I’m not sure what this sport is called, maybe wind surfing, but this guy was really flying across the water.

The Lazy Days RV Show was the largest show I’ve been to to date. I find it an insult to call this a Chinook. Lots of sold signs on the units. I’ve read this year will be a banner year foe RV manufacturers.

Goodbye to the tropical wildlife, we’re heading North for the panhandle of Florida, then back along the Gulf Coast.

It’s time to experience new places, so we left the Gulf Coast and we’re now crossing Louisiana in route to Arizona. From here on out practically everything we experience will be new to us. This Mardi Gras thing appears to be a huge event along the Gulf Coast, decorations on buildings, beads are hanging on trees and displays in casino lobbies.
Hey Texas, here we come.

If we stayed on I-10 the whole way it’s about 880 miles to New Mexico but we’re going to do some zig zagging. Stopped at the state capital for a tour. Built in 1888 by two venture capitalists from Chicago in trade for three million acres of land in the panhandle along New Mexico. Then, in the 1990’s they added new underground levels for a total of one million square feet.

Here’s the capital and an interesting sign.
