I have one more bracket to fabricate above the safe. It is a hotel type safe from Costco large enough for a laptop/camera/ipad and other valuables. Thieves will at least have to work a bit to get our stuff.

That looks very nice (and there is a lot of space under those dinette seats!).

I took out the original Chinook safe a few weeks ago. If it had been large enough for laptop, etc., I would have found it much more useful. As it was, it was about the right size to hold a wallet and keys, or maybe a camera, and I usually have those with me. 'course it might be just right for some uses.

Because of Chinook's limited space we have been trying to maximize all possible storage. We plan on leaving soon on a one month "test run" down the west coast so hopefully our efforts will pay off. Within the next year we are hoping to do a cross country trip. The safe, while not fool proof, will help us feel more secure. Thanks for your comments BG.
