I mounted my wireless camera on the roof just above the back door by drilling a hole to pick up the wires to the middle rear running light that is above the door. This way, I can turn on the camera by turning on the headlights...sealed the hole with silicone...easy to do and it has worked well for going on three years now.

Mounted mine above rear license plate and ran wire from radio/monitor under vehicle. Also ran wire for automatic door lock (clicker) for rear door at the same time. Operates with the power front door locks.

How do you find the angle? I was considering going over the door for being on center.

Bought piston from Amazon. Cut hole in door below locking lever. Made a bracket from head of piston to lever. Ran wire from bottom of door up hinged side to piston. Slipped metal plate between Styrofoam and door panel. Covered opening with electrical outlet cover.

Just re-read your post. Sorry, I thought you were talking about door lock. As for the camera, I bought a wide angle and from the top of the license plate holder, I have a great view of the rear. Used hole where license plate light wire comes out. (I don't like added extra holes in the fiberglass).
