Sticker shock for replacement Dometic refrigerator parts.

Post by 1998chinook »

Some of the interior shelves and trays in my Dometic refrigerator are dingy, broken or missing. I contacted Dometic customer service to order replacement parts. I'm in sticker shock at the prices.

Some of the parts are available on eBay, but the prices are only a few dollars cheaper than from Dometic directly.

That's freaking ridiculous. $53 for a wire tray??!! Come on now... I'd try to make one out of Ikea wire shelf parts before I'd give Dometic that much money...

I ended up using some Rustoleum self etching primer on the wire shelves followed by some Krylon bright white paint. For the price of the primer and spray paint they cleaned up pretty good.

I used Krylon for plastic bright white paint for the plastic parts after running them through the dishwasher. The parts look better, but I still need to bite the bullet and replace some missing or broken plastic shelving parts.

IKEA is a good idea. I think I'm going to see what I can find there. Thanks.

I could never justify getting a 3d printer until reading this thread!

Just having removed my old Dometic, I salvaged some components... wire racks, bins, trays, door panels, handles, etc.. Condition of parts are good... not new. In my remodel, I sawed the fridge in half, after removing the innards. PM me for what you need. Maybe I can help.

I have a 1998 Chinook Concourse. The shelves in my Dometic refrigerator are all rusted up and need to be replaced. Does anyone have any shelves they'd like to get rid of or any ideas on how to make these look better or where to get new/used ones? I'm in Wharton, Texas 77488. I have no idea how much postage would cost on these things, but, if not too much, I'm happy to pay that, as well.
