Actually, might work out pretty well with inward opening storage lockers on each side as above, plus put solar panels on top of each locker where no shadows can fall from other rooftop gear. Hmmm...

PS if your wife does insist on AC again, do some Googling on "rv split ac" or split heat pumps. If you can figure out where to mount the outside half (say, left rear outer wall above the spare tire), and the inside blower (above rear door? rear of raised area? in cab storage locker?), then you'd have a super quiet solution with no rooftop equipment needed.
