I'm surprised you saw much "open range" on your route. I don't remember any on I-40(?) I find there's nothing like herds of very large animals wandering freely on an un-fenced highway to curb my urge to go much over 50mph -- especially at night
That said, I do find that the V10/gearing/overdrive in our 21-footers, is quite happy to get up over 70. The "barn" doesn't cleave the air very well at that speed, but the Chinook certainly doesn't mind stretching its legs

Okay, fair enough. In the original post I was on the signed Open Range out in the country where there are no fences at all and you often see entire herds either on the road or like two feet from it, contentedly munching.
