No fishing but hiking in National Forest

Post by 68camaro »

Spent weekend camping in Jefferson National Forest in VA. Usually fish these mountain streams but daughter came so this was just a hiking trip....with recent rains creeks were blown-out and local rivets were cresting dams so homes were being evacuated.

This was rare trip I am not alone so I was able to really get use out of the Chinooks creature-comforts. To give my daughter some privacy I slept in tent for both nights, cool mountain air made in really nice. She said the Chinook was like a nice but small bedroom, being 17 she is addicted to electronics so I did start generator a few times to power her stuff up.

We spent almost all day each day hiking the local paths with some beautiful rewards.....great way to spent time with teenager...

Pic of small stream blown out...no fishing that stuff....

Rained the first night, technically this is first time I used awning in 3 years....worked perfect

Hike up to Apple Orchard Falls below Blue Ridge Parkway...Apple Orchard Falls is 200' falls, hike to falls was roughly 2.2 miles.
