Some people may even buy it from you and help you with paying for the welder! I know I would like to do something similar, since my back is "maturing" a lot faster than it used to be.

I have a side entry so not sure this applies to rear entry. But I just patched up my cracked tire mount and plated it to make it stronger. There was a chicken crap weld repair previously. It is temporary and I will eventually do something like Hea!

There are companies that make tables to mount on the inside of swing away tire carriers. Basically you could swing out your tire carrier and have a spot for your grill.
