1995 Chinook major makeover

Post by noluck »

So the project is underway to convert to 4x4 and cummins power and a manual transmission, two of the big hurdles were clutch master linkage and of course the rear axle, so after hours cruising ebay for ford clutch brake pedals i found the ranger kept the master on the clutch side of the pedals and not transfer over to the throttle side were there is no room, and the dodge master is a square hole design as well just a little bigger,

You didnt need to buy a complete rear axle. All you had to do was swap out your existing 32 spline spline side gears for the 35 spline side gears from a Uhaul, fedex, UPS, truck which are 35 spline or just swap to a complete 35 spline locker of some type or another. The axles from the Uhaul, fedex, UPS E-series are the exact same length as your existing 32 spline axles. Doesnt really matter if you already purchased it i guess...

So is this axle a pre-1999 dually axle? Im trying to figure out how you have an 8x170mm lug pattern on a ford dually rear axle?

And you say its a sterling axle not a Dana80? If its a sterling it came out of a 3/4 ton F-250 versus the 1 ton F-350 which used the Dana80 up until at least 2017. Did you get around to measuring the width of the backing plates to insure it will fit between the springs?
