New to Chinook
Re: New to Chinook
I almost forgot to remind you...ask for ALL THE BOOKS AND SERVICE MANUALS!!! Also any service records they may have or receipts for things like tires, brake job, shocks, belts and hoses, etc... If they have owned it that long they should have a ton of stuff about it. Also don't forget to ask if there are ANY extra parts that go with it. Things they may have removed and stored in their garage. Example...I removed both my club chairs,my wine cabinet/table,my screen door. They are all still good but I don't use them so I stored them in my shop. Just suggestions. Ask them lots of questions about operation and write down notes. It is easy to forget after you get home. One more thing....ask them for ANY extra keys to the coach AND the compartments!! Maybe a signed bill of sale too!! Nice to have while you are travelling. Don't forget about insurance!! I sound like your Momma and your going to senior prom!! Hah! Have fun.

I've been doing a ton of research. MORyde seems to be a sometimes good thing, or sometimes not. I suppose the only "not" is if it needs to be replaced.
On that note, would the majority of 2001 Premiers have it, since it could be classified as a later model, or would that have been an option for the Premier back then?

Have a 2001 same as the one you are getting, has standard springs. I think most can with springs.

OK, FFCs! (Future Fellow Chinookers)- I'm hitting the road tomorrow afternoon for Nebraska. Should be there by noon Friday, do the deal, and back to TX by Saturday. HOPEFULLY. Little nervous about just showing up, and trusting she will make it home with no setbacks. I plan to sleep in it on the drive back at some point. Again, REALLY appreciate the guidance here. Wish me luck! I may log in and update along the way.
Any last words?

Good luck on your trip. Have some basic tools, supplies, and a multimeter with you. You could even stop in at a local Harbor Freight in Nebraska for supplies. Drive carefully and don't be surprised to find an issue or two (or three lol) with your new Chinook. They all have something that needs attention.
Looking forward to your return.

read the manual before heading out so you know how things should look. You can find them in the reference forum here.

Wow. Just wow. First night in...in...haven’t spent enough time to name her yet. She’s everything I had hoped for and more. Immaculate. All records for the past 17 years. Original leather Chinook satchel with manuals. Plugs and belt changed. Oil changed every 3k. Everything works and I can’t find one flaw. Well, that’s overzealous, but you know what I mean. Who said things happen for a reason, earlier? Spot on! Just wow. I lucked out big time. One happy “camper”! In KS on the way back to TX. When’s the next ChinookFest?
