I'm one that does store my bedding in the ex-TV area. I wouldn't like using the center door to access it. I currently just have a curtain over that opening, but wouldn't mind a hard door for better looks (had one in the works). Each person's cabinetry might be slightly different, but note that on mine a hinge-on-top lift up door would have the door hitting the over-couch cabinet end. Hinge on the left is fine (IIRC, but check on yours with a cardboard mockup or something).

I don't have a TV, but if I did I could think of two ways I might do it. One would be to put a hinged door on the TV area and mount TV to door (again, check for interference in your specific setup). The other would be to have a TV mounted on the center hinge up door (several have done this; you may want to switch to a slightly higher "pound" hatch strut or maybe go to two, one on each side).

Whichever way it would end up, I would want to keep access to that ex-TV compartment via the front of the cabinet vs. needing to go past (or unload) items from the middle area. Everyone has their own preferences though.

If you just want to try out the concept, it's pretty easy to just put the bedding in there and smooth it over a bit on the front so it looks tidy. It tends to bulge slightly to the sides so does not want to fall back out on its own. I found it easy to use that compartment via the front opening even though it's not in the center of the aisle, but everyone may not find it the same. Easy to try though by just removing the TV and using it.
