1998 Concourse headlights wobble?

Post by Flame »

1998 Concourse Ford E-350. previous owner replaced original headlight "lenses" with some clear see through ones that can handle LED bulbs. I just purchased a set of Sylvania Ultra 9007 LED bulbs. My problem is both lights wobble real bad in my RV. NOT the bulbs but the light assemblies themselves. They "seem" to pop in properly but they are NOT snugg and they bounce around. Any advice?? Fixing to drive 2000 miles and I'm tired of not seeing well at night!

It's too bad when owners think they're doing an upgrade by replacing OEM headlights with Chinese junk. In my opinion, you'd be best off going to Rock Auto and getting what works best.

I just replaced my headlights on my 2094 Premier (old lenses were so yellowed, I was having trouble seeing at night). The new lenses were an ORM fit, so they went in fine…but they were also loose as you describe. I solved that problem by placing a couple of layers of Gorilla Tape on the outside of the bottom bracket where the light pops in (so tape “shim is between the metal housing and light assembly Too thick a shim, and light will not pop back in, so experiment with how thick a shim you need. And once you get it all assembled, don’t forget to do a headlight adjustment (easy to search for instructions on how to do that on YouTube).

I ended up replacing my lights with a set from vantage optics. Expensive but work quite well.
