Thanks Blue! I tried posting the image the first way you said in my original post, did everything right but it didn't work. So then I uploaded right from my phone! I didn't try that in the beginning because I didn't think it would work from a phone.

Thanks for the headlight info, I'll check it out.

Willywilderbeast,
Do you happen to have the paint code numbers on the inside of the door?

If you do have the code numbers, could you post them in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=387

If you go to that thread you can see what they look like. They are basically paper labels that are stuck to the driver's door jamb. There are two of them and each one has the color code for one of the two stripe colors. Since they are just paper, they fade and deteriorate and thus many folks don't have readable ones. We have the codes for the 1999 era blue and the mid-90's teal, plus one of the Millenium (swoopy) schemes, but quite a few folks which we had the tan/brown codes. Also not sure we have the grey ones.

At any rate, if you are lucky enough to have them, could you post them and plus say what color they are for (can't tell in photo if yours is tan or grey).

Glad you got the photo up. Sharp rig!

How historically appropriate :D Cool pic!

From this link:

http://www.tincantourists.com/wiki/doku.php?id=chinook

On August 16, 1998, history was made as the world's fastest motorhome would set a land speed record on the powdery Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Sanctioned by the Southern California Racing Association, a Yakima-built and specially-modified Chinook Concourse, painted in a bright orange racing stripe pattern and sporting an air scoop on its hood, rumbled down the three mile course with Dan Lukehart at the wheel.

The Chinook team reportedly had to throw out more than just the kitchen sink; most of the Concourse had been gutted out, from the rooftop air conditioner to the sofa, dinette table, stove, refrigerator, cabinets, wet bath and holding tanks. In its place, a custom built roll cage was installed in the driver's cab as Dan Lukehart would speed to a recorded 99.776 miles per hour in three minutes time to break the old record of 97.613 mph, set May 16, 1970 by a 26-foot, 4-1/2 ton, Oldsmobile Toronado-powered Travoy, built by Ramona Motor Coach Company of San Jacinto, Calif. at El Mirage Dry Lake, Calif.

The Chinook's LSR was set at a density altitude of 5,384 feet. Adjusting to sea level the speed would have been 108 mph.

Personally, I'd have been more impressed by taking curves and braking, but I've got my rig up to snuff on that with some aftermarket mods. Anyway, still cool in an "appropriate to the era" sort of way.

I would be remiss if I did not congratulate you on your side entry,1998 v10 side entry chinooks, are very rare.....most earlier side entry's are v8. Not that the v8 is a bad engine by any means, and if there are side entry concourses beyond 1998..,I have never seen one.I did see a earlier side entry with a jackknife sofa instead of a dinette that allowed for space below for the fresh water tank.Rooney

Thanks Rooney! When I started researching Chinooks I knew I wanted a side entry. All the literature I read said they stopped making them in '96, but while searching the internet I came across a blog post of a guy who had a '98 side entry. I emailed him to confirm it was a '98 with the v10 and he said it was, and that he wish he never sold it haha.

It's pretty much the perfect Chinook combination I wanted. I wanted the dinette over the pull out. Only thing that could top this rig for me would be if I could find the exact one, but with the 7.3 diese! I dream that it's out there somewhere and one day I'll find it haha

Here's a picture from Arches National Park. Delicate Arch!

I see, it was not something that you stumbled upon by mere happenstance !,I salute your patience, and perseverance as well as your skills in stalking the obscure object of your focus? For surely as it is the journey and not the destination,(as your photos so aptly demonstrate),the adventures of our Travels ascend even the pleasures of our Vehicles.Between here and there.
