For those curious, there is a Futura for sale around me with lots of interior pictures. PDF of the ad is attached in case it is deleted.

https://thumb.craigslist.org/rvs/d/1978 ... 26772.html

According to the ad they made them just two years, '77 and '78. Neat rig.

Oh I see how the door hinges now, thanks. That black gap at the top (plus the weird shape of the door for hinging in general) made me think it might gull wing.

Welcome Stephen, that's one heck of a unique rig.

I found this one for sale on Craigslist in Michigan: https://thumb.craigslist.org/rvs/d/1978 ... 26772.html It's the same year, model and color as yours and the owner stated that they were made for 2 years...1977 and 1978. One of his pictures shows a lot of manuals, etc., and his ad concludes with "give me a call and I'll tell you all about it". So it might be worth getting ahold of the owner and see what he knows. Often people with such a rare vehicle enjoy talking to the few others that own them too, even if you're not a potential buyer. And always good for you to know where the other vehicles and owners are.

Not sure Washington vehicles are rust free. Had many cars here that had rust issues. I suppose much less than Michigan though. ;)

it is the salt they use in winter that really kills the body. In my neighborhood, I have to drive out of town to get a muffler shop. Maybe 5 shops within 15 miles radius. Over in New England and mid-West, you have several muffler shop in every town of reasonable size.

After looking at the ad my 78 seems to be in better condition, we live in the San Juan islands and do have some issues with the salt from ocean but I am fortunate that I can keep "Little Guy" mostly stored inside I am looking forward to keeping you all updated on my progress and will add some more pictures ...

San Juan islands? How much it cost to bring the Chinook to Victoria from there? I may want to go visit Vancouver area next summer, and wonder if I can go around easily in my rig.
