Thank you Blue for looking it up. It is difficult to get information from a marketing/salesman term. I don't know if the fact that the lack of info on the label means that the Solar Ray is a process they do after the glass was manufactured. Knowing nothing about auto glass here, just lots of curiosity.
BTW, tempered means that it is thermo treated to give it extra strength, but when it shutters, the stress will make it into a million pieces. Safety glass properly means that there is a plastic lamination in the middle that holds the broken pieces together so that it won't be flying everywhere. Tempered/safety are two different thing, and you can have both.

That's what I thought - thank you for confirming.chin_k wrote: June 1st, 2020, 7:54 am Tempered/safety are two different thing, and you can have both.
Now that I think about it (and look at the window again), I think it is the "JANEL SAFETY GLASS" company. And that JSG made our tempered glass side windows.
Reason I even know a wee bit about tempered glass is I had this idea to do like boats with big windows that don't open do. That is, they cut a (often circular) hole somewhere in the window and then mount an opening port right in it. I wanted to do that at the forward end of my mongo driver's side window (I removed the water heater, so it would be safe). Then I read up on tempered glass and changed my mind!

Re: 2004 - 2100 Window above Sofa
As you can see my 2004 Premier has the Tinted Dual Paine Mirrored Solar Glass. When I purchase my coach the drivers side fixed couch window was not replaced with the mirror glass just gray tinted glass. After a lot of research my glazing contractor and I found a shop in Washington state to supply us the glass to repair the poorly replace window. They sent us the glass to our exact dimensions ( Made a Template ) and they Cut, Tempered, and Shipped the glass to our location in Southern California. That glass was $226.95 delivered. Very well crated. The glass companies name and address is as follows

Re: 2004 - 2100 Window above Sofa
Is the glass on your Premier the exact/very similar glass on the regular Concourse? If that is true, I am sure a few people will appreciate your reference, since as far as I know, there is no glass shop that can get us the same glass if we damage or break the windows. This is excellent information.

Re: 2004 - 2100 Window above Sofa
From cidevco's info, I found the following spec sheet.
https://www.vitroglazings.com/media/soj ... al-pds.pdf
The metal oxide coating, applied during the floating process during glass manufacturing, is permanent. The glass can be treated by tempering afterward, but it can be scratched, such as with a razor blade, on the coated side. The non-coated size is just regular glass, and I think it is the side that faces outward.
The instruction have the following in bold: "acidic cleaning solutions, fluoride salts, hydrogen producing compounds, and abrasive cleaners should not be used"
So the mystery is whether the coated side is really outside. This can be found (without taking a razor blade to it) by looking at the reflection right next to the glass. If the reflection is touching the object, then the coating is outside. If there is a gap between the reflection and the object, corresponding to the thickness of the glass, then the coating is on the opposite side of the surface.
This assumes that the window that original come with the Chinook is the Solarcool bronze glass.

Re: 2004 - 2100 Window above Sofa
Yes the glass is Exact. Color viewing out of the coach and the Mirror looking in, the only difference if you were to be super picky is that the new mirror glass is much cleaner as compared to the 2004 glass work. House keeping...more window cleaner on the old glass
Re: 2004 - 2100 Window above Sofa
Can you give us whatever code or part number or whatever Peninsula used for the "color"? That would be helpful for future use. That way we don't have to say "Well, his forum name is cidevco, does that help?" if we call them.

Blue, the trademark is Solarcool, and the specific color variant is call SolarBronze, or simply bronze. If you ever need to replace your glass, I suggest you get the color variant called SolarBlue

The Peninsula site brought me to the following ordering site, and I think the right type of windows is called "SOLAR COOL BRONZE ($$)" on the form.

Thanks, Chin_k. I still wouldn't mind confirmation from cidevco, but it sounds like you've got it.

Definitely get cidevco to confirm this. I am just guessing here, from what I see on the web. Never talked to the Peninsula folks.
