You're in an area that tugs at my travel heart strings now. Enjoy the ferry over and then your time in Victoria. Wish I were there!
Probably everyone and their brother has recommended Port Townsend; but it's one of those places that is still wonderful (IMO) even despite the hype.

What a nice experience riding the ferry to Victoria. It ran on time, was clean and fairly priced. The city of Victoria is one of the most charming places I’ve been on this trip. The landscaping was beautiful. We took a 90 minute tour and learned a lot about the history and saw some really nice examples of architecture. I’d go back.

The mountains showed their tops. Plan to go to Pike Place Market in Seattle tomorrow.

Re: We sold the house and hitting the road
My mission to see people tossing fish to each other was accomplished yesterday with our visit to Seattle and Pike Place Market. From our old house in South Carolina to Seattle is about 2700 miles but it took us 12,600 miles to get here. Now the journey starts to head back to the Southeast to find a place to call home. Leaving the Olympic Peninsula for Spokane. We’ve been on Hwy 101 since Monterey,Ca and decided to join 101 again and take it to the end in Olympia. Why not?
The weather was nice yesterday we even saw Mount Rainer when on the ferry. Also saw the first Starbucks store which had about 20 people waiting in line for coffee.

We also visited the Gum Wall. Disgusting but interesting and yes we contributed to the wall.

So there is no desire to go to Alaska for the summer?
I bet one of my kids will bring a scraper and tried to make an unique favor of gum from the wall.

Chin_k, Yes I have the desire to summer in Alaska but not alone. Ha.The smell of that wall area is actually pretty nice. Sorta.
What a difference in terrain along I90 eastbound towards Spokane. Nice overlook area with horses running off a cliff.
