Chinook RV

I am about to buy a 2005 Chinook Concourse but it's a E-450. I thought all Chinooks were E-350 except for of course the Baja's.
I did a VIN check and it comes back as a E-450. In all my reading on Chinooks did I miss something? I understand theses can come a thousand different ways. But I haven't seen one like this.

I think we might have seen another E-450 from 2005(?). Also, wasn't the Remington Concourse an E-450?

Looking at the options lists and how they sit, it seems they got heaver as time went on. Maybe it was a change to a heavier chassis, but then they went out of business soon after?

The rig in that picture is a 4x4 so its not surprising.

Just curious: How can you tell it's a 4x4? I see it looks lifted, but that's all I can tell. Maybe I can sharpen my identification skills.

It is a 4X4. It has a Quadvan conversion.

Since Quadvan did many of the original Baja conversions for Chinook, maybe it was special-ordered as an E-450 with that in mind. it seems like Chinook was doing more customizing toward the end. For example, by the mid 2000's, a Premier could basically be a Concourse with straight windows. Back in the 90's there were options, but more of a fixed menu, from what I see.

Well, Chinook would've had E450 cutaways around because of the Glacier and above.

And other Class C makers often offer it as an upgrade (higher weight limits, heavier duty suspension / brakes, higher rear end ration for climbing hills).

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I have looked at two different Baja's and both of their 4X4 conversions were done by Salem Kroger. The plates on them that said that.

I had read that some were done by Salem Kroger. On the other hand, when I was at Quadvan getting the new front end put on my Chinook, he had photos of Baja Chinooks and told me they had done some of the factory conversions for Chinook. That's the extent of my knowledge on it.
