Please beware the seller of this rig is not owner and scamming folks, when I inquired about it I was told a "story" below from seller Caroline Diebert.....first giveaway was price - only $15,700.

"Hi there,

Thank you for contacting me about my 1998 Ford E350 Chinook . It has 95,000 miles , sleeps 4 , V10 gas engine with Automatic Transmission w/Overdrive. The vehicle is in excellent and immaculate condition. No hidden damages or defects. I have a clear title under my name, free of any liens or loans. It is a non smoker motorhome and never had pets inside. The price is firm, $15,400. I am selling it because my husband died a month ago (he suffered a heart attack) and it brings me bad memories, so I want to sell it as soon as possible. My daughter and I decided to sell the house and we moved in my parent's house trying to start a new life. Let me know if you are interested in buying it or if you have any other questions I will be glad to hear back from you.

P.S. Attached you can find more pictures!"

The pictures sent were of very desirable 4x4 Chinook, with old looking invoice paperwork showing 4x4 conversion was factory option added.

Next I received the following....

"Hi again,
Thanks for the reply. So our current situation is that my daughter and I decided to go for fresh start so we sold the house and moved to my parents in Springfield, Missouri. We are trying to start a new life. The vehicle is here in Springfield, stored with all the paperwork at eBay's warehouse and ready to be delivered to its new owner. I want to use their escrow and transport services as they offer 100% protection and insurance to both buyer and seller. The best part about this is that you have 5 days to try it out prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it, you can send it back at my expense. If you are interested in knowing more info about how it works, you can reply with your full name, shipping address and phone # so I can notify eBay that you are my selected buyer, and they will contact you right away with all the details, with no obligation to buy it."

Notice how she said they will ship it to me and I can try out for 5 days and return at her cost if I don't like it....pretty good deal for buyer...LOL

I received an invoice from Ebay Motors asking to call a number (CA by the way) to arrange payment into a escrow account, the scam Ebay invoice looked really good. I sent "invoice" to Ebay and they responded with the following....

"Thanks for forwarding the suspicious email you received.

The email is a spoof, also known as a "phishing," email. (That's
phishing, as in "fishing" for personal information.) It didn't come from
eBay. Our Trust & Safety team is working to disable any websites it
links to.

Copies of any emails we send you about the status of your account or a
change in your account information will be displayed in My Messages.
This is especially helpful since many spoof emails try to convince you
that your account is in jeopardy.

-- Important --
*Never* respond to a suspicious email or click any links in the email
message. If you think you may have given out personal information in a
spoof email or website, you need to take steps to protect your identity
right away. For more information about what to do, go to:

If you'd like to learn more about how to spot a spoof email and stay
safe online, go to:

Keep those reports coming -- you're helping protect the global Internet
community! Our Trust & Safety team works closely with Internet Service

Web browser companies so that they can develop tools to identify spoof
sites."

part of the "seller's" email is identical to another scam example that circulated around. They must use the same template over at Russia/NK/Nigeria/China, etc.

Yeah, one of the ways to spot a scam is to take part of the posting, enclose it in quotes so it must match exactly, and use that to search in Google. Getting a duplicate hit is pretty telling.

As for the ads with a sob story, everyone knows our widows would keep the Chinook, and take it around the country with their new boyfriend ;)

Plus, who even tells that much detail about their personal life to a random buyer, even if it were true? That'd be a red flag even if the story were accurate. Geez.

Yes, I talked to owner and he sounded legit, he wasn't aware that his pictures were stolen and used in scam.
