Another TV mounting option...

Been playing around with an alternative TV mount/location idea. I’m personally not fond of the folding mounts or cabinet door attachments. I’ve always felt the bulkhead panel was already pretty busy with doors, speakers, radios, etc. FYI: My TV is a 22” Axess 1080i LED. The dimensions allow an easy fit thru the large overhead compartment.
The design is basically a 3-panel drawer (top, two sides) that is attached to the "floor" of the overhead storage compartment, much like a desk keyboard tray. This offers protection of the flat TV in the closed position while still maintaining surface space for storage. Use of a cross bracket between two standard drawer slides holds the TV in place (TV weight is 8-9 lbs.). When unlocked, the TV slides out like a keyboard tray and pivots into the final position. The final TV viewing position is more head/eye level when you're seated on the couch/chairs. Cable/wire management is protected under the "tray" as well. The cabinet door light switch is replaced with a small round rocker switch in the same hole.

That's a cool idea. I like how it's "gone" when you are not watching it, and also the lid over it so you can still store things in the compartment. Nifty.
