Purchased a 2000 Concourse last week. I have been following this forum for awhile and have really benefited from the discussions. In fact, found my Chinook through the classifieds section (btexpress). Really pleased with my purchase. Tom had everything in excellent condition. I would appreciate input regarding putting a 20 lb. propane tank in the lower storage compartment next to the coach batteries. I would like to use it with a small gas grill. I have lined the bottom with a non-slip material and secured the tank so that it won't move. Is there a problem with this setup?

There is already a propane tank in the rig, right? Won't it be easier to tap off the line if you want a gas grill?

Congratulations and welcome.
I'm guessing you want a separate bottle for portability, which makes sense. I use the little green bottles for my wok. They last a long time and are refillable.
If you're set on a 20 pound bottle, the only external storage option I can think of would be in the locker by the spare tire.

Thanks. The smaller tanks are probably the way to go.

Welcome Grand3!
I agree with Scott. Portable camp grill with small fuel bottle is the easiest and safest approach.

Oh, I see. For portability, I use a small 5 lb bottle for my Coleman stove. After I got the Chinook, however, I have not use it. It is much more durable than the 1 lb bottle.

Much more durable? How so?

The 1 lb Coleman tanks are suppose to be disposable. Some people fills them up, but consider the labor, it is not worth the saving IMO. The 5 lb cylinder have the OPD valve just like the 20#, and weight about 1/3, and easier to carry and store. The main issue I have with 1 lb is that they only last a hour or two, and I hate to throw the metal away. Should charge people $1 for deposit on them for recycling

Oh, OK. You initially mentioned durability. I'm still curious about your opinion on that.
