Chinook RV

Anyone know where I can source a passenger side rear bumper? Caught a rock boondocking and folded it back. SUPER lucky it wasn’t the gen or engine exhaust, or even the lower corner of the fiberglass!

Sorry to hear that. It is what some people called the cookie pan bumper? I think they are custom made by the same company that made the steps. Should be not difficult to get a metal fab to get one made, I guess.

As mentioned above, the company that made all the custom metal parts for Chinook is still in business (recently anyway), and will still make them. Here is the info:

Super nice folks. And I get why they quoted the price they did, as they have to make one-off fabricated bumper halves. Not much demand. $650 for the short side (Passenger) Whoah. I'm going to remove it and see what a rubber mallet will accomplish.

That price isn't terribly surprising. Making one of anything is always costly.

I'm way too embarrassed to explain what happened, but I tweaked my driver side rear bumper a bit. Although they're better than fiberglass bumpers, they're mostly cosmetic IMO. I didn't have access to my shop, so I removed it, then positioned it under the frame rail of my pickup, then used a floor jack and a block of wood to bring it back into shape. Good as new.
