My wife and I fell in love with a 1977 GMC chinook in good shape yesterday and we have decided to purchase, and begin to give her some TLC.
I am 63 and a decent mechanic/ car guy but new to the RV world.
I went over this thing yesterday for about 2 hours... it all checks out and they have all receipts / invoices for recent ( last 2 years) up -grades anmd maint .We felt comfortable to make this our first ( budget ) motorhome. We live in Spokane WA with lots of camping within 200 mile so we dont plan on any super long trips. She has 113K on the clock, 6 brand new tires and a lots of recent service per documents. Rust free and was always covered. Normal aging

Question: What is/are best place(s)to source parts going forward? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I need 3 bulb cover lenzs for those 5 exterior running lights above the cab.

Any other general comments on this make an model I would love to hear.

As stated I am a car guy and familiar with the value of specific forums and the wealth of knowledge they contain so thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum, Joe.

For the lenses cover, I got mine from trailer shop. You maybe able to get them off Amazon, or other online stores, but I would like to see the item to make sure it fits.

Welcome, Joe,

When I looked into replacement lenses for my 1998, I found that nearly identical entire clearance light assemblies were available and not expensive from O'Reilly's auto parts, bought online. I bought a number of amber and red ones and found that the lenses fit perfectly, no need to replace the entire lamps. If I did it today, I'd opt for LED lights to replace them all. Check the distance between the mounting screw holes. E Trailer has some possibilities, too, as well as Amazon.
