Chinook RV

Someone on "another" forum was just asking for details on the generator exhaust, having ripped his off on a backroad (so nothing to go on for replacement). I looked up the exhaust diagram in the Onan installation manual, and then I looked at photos of my rig. Chinook's exhaust doesn't match the diagram, but does look fine (just more of a custom bend).

BTW, that big rectangular hole in the bottom of the generator compartment floor (where the exhaust also comes out, it looks like, although this is not quite like the diagram I had) is also the main air outlet for the generator, as shown here:
Here are two photos of the exhaust as done by Chinook on my 1999 Concourse. The other, bigger pipe is (probably obviously) the Ford engine exhaust.

My 2004 didn't have that S shape, went to the back of the coach, and angled out. Best pics I could find quickly.....

Interesting variation and nice to have that data in this thread. Maybe there were worries about CO gathering under the deployed awning. That would be a valid concern although I can't imagine sitting under the awning with the generator running. But it only takes one person doing it for them to have a problem.

In the case of my rig, it exits right where the Ford exhaust does, so only one place to have to keep track of hot/exhaust. I can see plusses/minuses to either way (longer pipe vs. coming out under awning).
