Chinook RV

Anybody replace the locking fuel filler cap with a standard, no lock version? I've bought a couple off ebay only to find out they didn't fit, even though the specs said they would (drat!).
If you've had better luck, please provide a source and part number. Thanks

The new part is Ford P.No. XU5Z 9030 MA - part interchanges with # FC975 - at $29.30 list from the Ford dealer. My original cap was not locking so perhaps this was an option?

I don't know which style of filler cap the 2001 has? What I can say is that '99 has the typical RV "hatch" (like the electrical one next to it but without the little mouse hole), and that is locking. I thought that was a pain (and the keys aren't unique anyway), so what I did was bought a "thumb latch" (JR Products) that is an alternate latch and fits in right where the keyed latch is. I replaced all of my hatch locks with thumb latches (except the water one because I'm going to change that another way). It's a two-minute job (max) to replace the locking lever with the thumb lever on one of these.

I've seen later Chinooks that look like they perhaps use a Ford round metal door more like you'd see on a stock van. If it's that one that's locking then Rokrover's suggestion probably applies.

PS: Side note: Since I mounted a larger dump hose tube down below, I repurposed the tiny built in (side of body, with hatch door, now with thumb lock) side "sewer hose" compartment for a disposable glove cubby. Super useful! Mine looked unused but if anyone wants to do this and has a yucky one, JR products also has these. It's a hatch with a round flange that accepts a standard PVC tube on the inside (you cut to length).

My rig has the round metal door.
I finally located a non-locking, retro-fit cap (Duralast # 6832) at AutoZone (a very helpful tech) for $15 and a tether kit (A5000) for $4.
The new cap fits without any issues.
