Anyone good with power steps? HELP!
Re: Anyone good with power steps? HELP!
Well, the only fusible link I found was on the negative battery terminal where it attached to the body to ground it. At this point, I'll wait until Monday and hope the garage can find something easy. In the meantime, I cleaned, drained and flushed my entire coolant system. The dirt and grime that came out was WELL worth that effort. At least SOMETHING is moving forward! Also got the only remaining driving light out. Don't have much hope of finding a true replacement on that though...

I really need to read the entire thread from start to finish in one setting, so this is why if what I say make no sense.
Can you attach a tone generator to the line where the power step supposes to get power, and follow the tone with a tracer and see where it disappears?

Well, I’m an idiot. 20 minutes and he finds a missing fuse. I checked them, re-checked them and checked them again but he finds a missing one in 20 minutes. How many days did I spend on his problem? I can’t believe that’s all it was but I guess a spare set of eyes was what was needed. Geez, that’s frustrating. Thanks to all of you who tried to help, especially Blue, very much appreciated. It’s almost anti-climactic at this point, almost a letdown it wasn’t some sneaky, hidden gem that we could have uncovered. 5 amp fuse. GAH!
The next downside was after taking out the second daytime running light module and fixing the one I had already in place, I found out the high beams were always on and I couldn’t get it to go on low beams. Took the headlight out after some research and flipped the wires the previous guy had done improperly. I’ve never been so glad for an easy wiring fix in my life!
The yellow wire is now showing power at the back for the rear stairs so I guess all’s well that ends well. Thankful to all of you...

Re: Anyone good with power steps? HELP!
I'm sorry, that's too simple
Question though, for future reference. Where IS said 5 amp fuse? In the Chinook block? Which position? Elsewhere?
Main thing is... ahhhhh, they work!

The main block Blue
Think it was the trailer towing battery charge fuse for that relay. I know I checked it but must not have had the ignition turned on or something like that, or I was tired, hungry, OLD...I don't know but like you say, it's fixed!

Re: Anyone good with power steps? HELP!
....and the grand finale update is my steps are now working perfectly. Full power on the yellow wire. I just installed a new normally closed door switch and all is well. The stair lock switch performs perfectly, the steps retract when the Coach is started, they open when the door opens and close when the door closes. Unbelievably long process for a few simple fixes but I guess all ended well, thanks to all who chimed in....Dano

"Tired, hungry, and OLD." Ha, my new "reason" when I miss things
So glad this came to a successful conclusion.
