Over the six years I have owned ours, I really haven’t come across anything that can’t be fixed for reasonable price—so 96K listed for $15,000 sound pretty damn good to me. You should expect to put some more into it...but to my way of thinking, even if that came to $10,000 all-in, I’d still think you got a great deal! Go for it Fatbuoy!..and keep us posted.

EXACTLY! Yep! Going to drive to NE next week to get her. SO excited!!! And yes, has the layout I am wanting.

Side question- has anyone ever slept 4 in one of these? It would be a rarity, but we have two kids that are adult sized that we would love to include once a year. Maybe three in the giant bed section and one on the floor? Or is that just a pipe dream?

Remember, everything happens for a reason!! Have you "secured" the deal? How far do you have to drive to get it and are you planning on driving it home? Wherever home is? Congratulations!! These are exciting times for you!! Yes, please keep us updated! It's fun for all of us!!

Fatbuoy—glad to hear you are going for it. Don’t think you’ll regret it.
I do think 4 is a pipe dream. We travel with our two grown kids from time to time...and I also take 3/4 day bike trips with some of my buddies. In those instances, the extra bodies sleep in a tent.

The one on the floor won't be happy when someone stepped on his groin on the way to the bathroom in the dark. Maybe one or two night is not insufferable, but anything past that, there will be only three of you coming back after a detour to the wood. Remember to pack a shovel on the first trip. ;)

Seriously, it all depends on how each of your personality is. Some can deal with tight quarter well, some (e.g., my wife) does not.

Thanks for asking! Deal is secured, verbally. Sending a deposit tomorrow, and driving 13 hrs (one-way car rental) next Thursday or Friday. Drop the car, do the deal, drive her home. GREAT way to get acquainted. Will pull over for a siesta on the way back to TX on that giant bed.

SUPER excited

We do have a Jumping Jack Trailer we could tow behind it. That sleeps 4. Probably do that for those special occasions.

FatBuoy, I am in Texas also! Deep east Texas near the Louisiana border. Great to hear we will have another Chinook make it's way down south!! Sounds like that great deal you were hoping for is coming true! I restore classic cars and I once drove by myself all the way to Soix Falls South Dakota rented a u-haul auto transport trailer one way back with a 1933 Ford Bonnie and Clyde type car I had always wanted. That was near 20 years ago and I still have that car today!! It's what I wanted and I found a way to make it happen!! Found my Chinook...100 miles down the road! Go figure!! We have put near 30,000 miles in our "Land Shark" in 2 years and have loved every minute of it! You will too. Good luck and congratulations!! What part of Texas are you in? We might be neighbors! Hah! Remember...we're all here to help!

I'm in Grapevine, Flame! Good ways away. I sent a deposit today, and will drive up Thursday/Friday. 13.5 hours there. Crossing my fingers she makes it back with no issues. I'm taking tools, in case something happens. Never know, could be something I can fix. Just found out the owner has had it since 2003! Wow. That's a great run. It almost sounds too good to be true, so a wee bit skeptical. But the lady is a sweetheart on the phone, and I Google searched her and hubby to be sure they are legit. Said there's some oxidation on the paint. I just want to be sure there's nothing major with it. But SUPER excited.

This has been a great forum. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions, but promise to search first. I get it. And hopefully, in the near future, will be able to contribute. Will keep ya posted!

Oh, and can you believe I can get a premium, one-way, rental car from Enterprise for $50 out the door right now? Unlimited mileage. Just wow.

Back again! Here's one for ya- the title says 2001 Ford E350 Cutaway Van. Super Duty. No Chinook mentioned. Is that normal? Could be a state nomenclature thing where it was registered I suppose. Anyone have a way to run a VIN?

Trail Wagon get the cut-away van chassis from Ford, and put the rest of the coach on it. What happened to the chassis after it left the factory is not going to be on the title.

When you do the inspection, there are a few things that you should look for. I brought my computer scanner with me on the OBDII to make sure it does not throw any code. But I were not familiar with the MorRyde, and ended up getting one with both side ripped. The water pump also leaks, but it was very minor and I have spare pump in my garage. I also did not learn how to operate the actuated dump valve. The issue with the water leak and the dump valves were that I only find out what I don't know when I was 4,000 miles away from home on my solar eclipse trip.
