Tire Recommendations?

Post by 02Destiny »

I need to get a new set of tires. This is what I am considering. Is there one that you think is a better choice? Of course, I would not be opposed to a cheater one. Thanks.

Those are the ones I went to, but you sure do pay a premium for them. There are a couple others people like, but I always feel like the LTX's are the top of the line. Longevity and traction even in snow has motivated me to keep paying the premium for over 10 years now. (my old truck and the chinook).

The Michelin LTX M/S and the newer Michelin defender are both discontinued.
I need some new tires soon.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

We love our Mastercraft Courser HXT in a LT225/75/16 M+S That's what was on it when we bought it and we replaced them with the exact same. Have about 30,000 miles and still in great shape!! A much cheaper tire than others also.

Good morning,

I recently acquired a 2003 Concourse XL and replaced all six weather cracked tires with Michelin Agilis CrossClimate 225/75/16 10 plys.

Not cheap at $225.00 per tire (possibly $210.00 if you're lucky enough to find a discount dealer or promotional offer).

Excellent reviews and direct replacement for discontinued LTX & Defenders.

2,000 miles into them and very pleased so far, quiet ride and averaging 11.5 mpg here in Maine as long as I don't exceed 60 mph. I hope this helps..........Happy camping!!

For those that want to replace their tires with Michelin/Continentals/Hankook, one thing to be aware of is the discount offered to members of the FMCA. Last time I checked it, the discount is more than pay for the one year membership fee *and* still cheaper than when the Costco tires are on sale (~$ 125 off when you buy 4). I think the discount is even more for expensive tires like the Michelin Agilis.

I have the LTX M/S 2 and will be replacing the rear four soon. I knew the LTX had been replaced by the Defender, and when I saw *that* was gone I thought the whole line might be done for. But they have yet another successor. I forget the name now (not travelling so no point buying tires just to park on), but it may be the Agilis that was mentioned.

Holy Crap! I've owned my rig for a month or so. Checked the "born on" date for the first time when 100 miles from home this weekend. 2007. Scary. I was so paranoid on the drive home. Made it, though. And to think I drove that thing 1,000 miles home when I bought it. Needless to say, next thing up- tires. I think I'll go the Firestone route. That's what's on it now, and look how they did.
