1998 concourse, stripes painted or decals?
1998 concourse, stripes painted or decals?
Ok everyone,I was on another Chinook facebook site and they all were talking about replacing their "decals" on their Chinooks. I was told or informed that my 1998 Concourse stripes are "painted" on and Not decals. Soooo Which one is it?? Mine still look like new with no cracking, chipping,or anything. I treat my stripes like they are paint. Are they or not??

Re: 1998 concourse, stripes painted or decals?
1998 Concourse will be painted on stripes with a clearcoat over them (Premier is decals). Paint codes are on the driver's door jamb, but they are printed paper so sometimes not readable. We have a thread where people have contributed paint codes. My blue ones, for example are one color from 1996 Ford colorway and the other a 1997 GM truck color.

Edited to add: Of course someone could have had the painted stripes removed and gone back with decals, or I suppose there could have been a custom order of decals on a Concourse (not that I have ever seen one); but I'm presuming we're talking about the stock normal situation, which is that a 1998 Concourse will have stripes that are paint/clearcoat.

Premier *suppose* to be decal'ed, but nothing beats having the actual specimen in front of you, than hearing about "facts" on the Internet.
One possibility to explains the discrepancy is that maybe one of the previous owners removed the decal, and have it painted? Very slim chance, but I will vote not guilty if someone life's depends on this in a murder trial.

The people talking about replacing decals on Facebook were Premier owners, not Concourse owners, so there was no discrepancy from our previous Chinook lore.
Funny how these Chinooks for sale or recently purchased show up randomly, and then suddenly there is a cluster of similar units that appear, like side entry, diesels, bajas, or in this case late 90s Premiers with the light blue decals.

I don't know why I did not notice Flame's sig saying that he got a Concourse. I got confused and thought that Flame has a Premier, and his is different from the normal in that it is painted. Thank you Clay for pointing this out.
