What do I have? Concourse xl or se xl??

Post by Flame »

Ok after all this time another silly question. I have a 1998 concourse 21 foot. How do I know if I have a XL or a SE XL?? And what is the difference and how do I identify?

Isn't SE means Special Edition? Don't know if it is related, but I see Harley Davidson SE, and others with special paint job.

The XL is a set of options that come bundle together, I think. Everyone of the Chinook is unique in a way, and everyone always order some additional options, or go without others.

Can you look at the XL options list and start by seeing if you have those? Keep in mind the year, too. For example mine is an XL with "all the options," but that's all the options for 1999. Some things didn't even come into play until later years (I think that's why mine is not so close to weight ratings - some of the later options add more weight).

I think I put a document in the reference section that talks about the differences in levels for my era, so that might help you. I don't remember there being an SE for my year at least.

Please ignore and skip to below. A duplicate post got made, but the attachment is in the one below so I'm "crossing out" this one manually.

That's pretty much what I have (conveniently that options list was from our era). I like mine too!
Although as I look at that 1998 "brochure" again (lists options for Concourse and compares to Premier), I see that the main heading is "Concourse/Concourse SE standard features." Then below that the XL and Luxury Package options are detailed. So who knows exactly what the SE was? In the back of my mind there may have been some "Northwest edition" or something? My recollection is that was mostly a decor thing. And of course this is only specific to 1998.

I believe I uploaded this to the Reference sub-forum, but here it is again (I hope that's okay, Manitou) for anyone who wants to take a peek directly (click to enlarge):

Maybe SE stands for Standard Edition? <shrug_shoulders>

well, I do know it said SE has a 2 burner stove instead of 3 like mine. SE had single bowl sink instead of double bowl like mine. Also it said SE had rear bed and mine does not. Or SE came with twin bed and mine does not. So I pretty much have a XL, and I have everything in the luxury package. Thanks again for your help!

Okay, now it's obvious that "SE" stands for side entry! Makes sense as they were mostly made in the mid-to-late 90's.

They had a smaller propane tank (cause the door chops up that area), and I believe the water tank was underneath, hence smaller (and more prone to freezing). Two burner stove and smaller sink because the galley is smaller (all in a line).

So I don't think you have an SE, Flame. Unless you have been trying to get in the rear door and just run into a wall there?
