Hi everyone,
Just bought a 2001 Chinook Premiere in great condition. Previous owner installed new stuff and decorated nicely. Can't wait to hit the road regularly.
I've done some forum searching, but can't find a definitive solution on this one.
What is the best idea you've seen for extra storage on the roof? I've seen attaching Rocketboxes to railing, installing racks and/or baskets. There was a standard rack installed on some Chinooks, but post says they are around $5,000 from manufacture. (Mine empty and rack pic attached)
How about X-Cargo on top of rack? (Pic attached)
I believe for a basket or rack I only have 40"x 26" to work with. (See pic) I can't find any manufactured with those dimensions.
In the future I'd also like to be able to store 2 kayaks up top too. This may be an additional fixture along the side which seems to be a good fit.
Also how much should I be worried about holes and leaks from new installations. I would not do myself. I'd have pro install.
Thanks for any insight you can share.
Best roof storage idea?

I have not found solution I am 100% comfortable with due to stress on screw holes and also more leak potential spots. I added a hitch box that has been big help.
I am interested in others solutions here as well.
