Last week I purchased a new Chinook Dream travel trailer. Since the weather was warm we did not ask to have the furnace turned on. Since arriving home I have found the furnace will not turn on. I have propane to the gas stove and have set the thermostat to high several times with no luck. I first reported this problem two days after picking up my new camper on April 18. I was not able to get an appointment where I purchased the camper at Trailer Source in Wheat Ridge, Co. until May 11. I refuse to attempt anything myself as it may void the warranty. My question is has anyone else had a similar experience ? If so is there a simple solution I am missing ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Furnace
Do you know which furnace model was installed? Suburban brand maybe? Not sure what to say if you don't want to troubleshoot yourself.
Re: Furnace
I was about to ask you if you have the LP tank turned on, then I realize you have no issue at the stove.
For a new rig, I would wait until the dealer figure it out. In the mean time, test everything else, and make sure nothing else is amiss. It must be a real pain to have to bring it all the way there again.

Re: Furnace
If the thermostat has more than one mode, like air conditioning, heat strip, etc. Make sure the thermostat is set to Furnace.
Run the air conditioner to make sure the thermostat is working.
Make sure the propane source does not have shut off valves for each appliance, ie, stove, refrigerator, furnance.

Re: Furnace
In addition to the things mentioned by others, check yo make sure that the diffuser lovers that allow air to blow out from the furnace into the cabin are OPEN. if they are closed, the furnace will try to start, but then shut off.

Re: Furnace
I don't know about lovers but I did remove the cover to avoid too much resistance. The furnace thermostat is mounted on a wall and the air conditioner has it's own controls all of which are mounted in the ceiling. I don't think the propane has separate shutoffs for furnace, stove, water heater or refrigerator. I will do some more checking but have more insulation and carpeting to install before returning to the dealer. The delay is because two service men left the week before I got this camper and they are backed up. I called the sales department and recommended they learn to service these campers instead of just selling them. No response there.
I still subscribe to the Hi Lo forum even after selling my 1509 (2009, 15') but am now pleased to have so many helpful responses on this site.
I would like to have this show on my email so I can access comments easier but that has not happened. I am open for any suggestion as to how to make this happen..
When the furnace issue is resolved I will post a response to hopefully help others.
I live between Evergreen and Conifer, Colorado at 7,600' elevation and expect more snow tonight.
Does anyone have information about camper trailer covers ? I know this question should be on a separate listing but just thought I would ask.
Thanks in advance to everyone.

Re: Furnace
(I think David is referring to louvers, not lovers.)

Chin’s correct—only louvers, no lovers lurking in my Rig!
