Outside Compartment Door Thingys

Post by kyidletime »

Does anyone know where the two piece item (thingy) that hold the outside compartment doors open can be purchased, or what they are called. Mine are in bad shape and don't do their job anymore. See picture (sorry about focus).

I think this may be what you are looking for. My Chinook has the same "holder uppers" on the generator compartment door and the "tire locker" door.

From this info I'd think you could probably find them sold in many places. Sometimes they call the compartment door a "baggage" door.

I think in the past I have seen them sold in a couple of sizes, so that's one thing to check. (Darned if I can remember where at the moment though.)

Most online RV parts suppliers sell them. I think Amazon sells too (Camco? brand). My finger pulls were also brittle/missing. I thought I could replace with the stainless steel finger pulls you see online, only to find out they don't cover up the two tiny alignment holes that the originals did. I found a source for original white pulls at AWESOME RV (awesomerv.com), a supplier for Alpinelite trailers. Only $3 each. Like this:

Interesting, as mine have never had finger pulls. But then the battery/storage compartment door is hinged at the bottom, so it "falls" open; and I guess I just pull open the "tire locker" and generator doors while the key is still in the lock. Primitive of me :D

I got mine from Pacific RV Parts. T1005-03C. To save on freight and to have spares I ordered three.

You inspired me to see what was on my '98'. They crumbled at a touch. Went down the street to the local RV shop and they had them hanging on the wall. Thanks
