So I was staring up at a bare overhead in the "living room," and missing the storage! Hence I whipped up a "temporary" long cabinet for the couch side and put that up. Funny thing is that (to me), the temporary cabinet (which I threw together at a boondocking spot) looks better than the original. Mostly because I really dislike dark oak. The new "real" ones, plus this new mockup, are both light maple.
Blue, that light maple is a really nice choice! If you want to sell me your "old oak" doors and drawers, let me know.
Minor setback on my remodel today. Discovered water damage to the floor where the old fridge was. Replaced the small section (two 3/4" layers of ply), easy enough to make right. Considering laying down 1/4" ply as a clean underlayment for the new carpet tiles throughout. We chose commercial carpet tile because of the soft feel, acoustic value, and being super easy to pull up and replace a section if damaged.
