Awning bracket replacement info

Post by Blue~Go »

Hi folks,

When I got my Chinook one of the awning brackets was broken (the ones that are low on the Chinook body and are an alternative place to put the legs vs. putting them on the ground). As I looked around, it became apparent that the original style is no longer made, but there is a new style. (BTW, the awnings are branded A&E or Horizon but I believe are actually basically Fiamma awnings. The original brackets did have Fiamma molded into them.

I found a newer (different exterior styling) replacement bracket, bought a pair, and installed them both (they don't match the original one in appearance, as they are streamlined and silver/metal, not squarish and white). These new brackets are Fiamma part number 98655-728. Here is a copy of the instructions, which also shows the part number:

I guess I don't have a good photo of the new brackets in place, but here is a generic one from the web, complete with random hand and awning leg :D :

I got mine from GoWesty, but there are probably other/cheaper places. It came with some shims to use if the body of a particular rig is curved, which a Westy apparently is (I don't remember if I ended up using any of them).
