Tv Antenna Crank

On my last night in North Carolina I was attempting to rotate the tv antenna to get a better signal. I pulled down on the ring to rotate it and the whole thing came off in my hand. The ring, the spring, and the crank handle. Looking for help on getting it back together. I think I'm missing something. I put the spring up, put the plastic ring up, but don't see how it was held against the ceiling under pressure. When I put the handle back on it's like I'm seeing too much of the shaft. It's not flush against the ring against the ceiling.
I know I'm missing something obvious. I can take pics if it helps. Did the shaft slide down some when everything dropped or what?

As I recall the handle has a set screw holding it.

It does. The part above the spring pulled everything below it off. What holds that up with tension? I'll have to do another look. Fortunately, I still have the set screw.

This will show it even better. Looks like the crank it what holds it all in place. I should know as I have installed a couple of these over the years but alas I am older now and just don't remember.

Ha d same problem, 1999 Concourse............plastic brittle and screw eventually just strips through do to the amount of pressure we use to lift up and down initially. I repaired twice and finally just put a small vice grip pliers that enables me to turn it 360deg and works great. Just an idea ..............

Today I took the time to put the crank handle back together and get the antenna working again. I used Bondic to seal the crack in the handle and reassembled it to working order. I also took the time to fix my Fantastic Vent. When I was at the beach a few weeks ago the wind was very strong one day and blew the vent back hard. The lift handle somehow became detached from the where it rests against the motor gear and the plastic along the front of the lid got cracked. Today I lowered the fan and the motor from the inside and found that the small pin that holds the lift handle in one place was pushed out the side of the handle. It's small so fortunately it didn't fall anywhere. I re-greased the handle and pin, reinserted the pin and reassembled everything. I also took the time to clean the blades and will clean the screen real good too.

Bondic time again! I repaired the long crack along the front of the vent cover. What I didn't realize was when the vent is down, the crack allowed the plastic to separate enough so it wouldn't contact the switch to turn the fan off with the lid down. With it repaired, it's contacting the switch and everything is operating as it should. I didn't have time to fix the vent or antenna crank because of work so I had to bungee the lid closed. Going down the highway it would lift up and allow cold air to get in. I figured moving forward would push the lid down, but I must have positive pressure or something from the dash heater running.
