Cruise Quit-Fixed

Post by Roger D »

'98' Concourse 55K-My cruise became intermittent and finally quit. I took it to the Ford dealer with some trepidation. They had it for 6 days and I was envisioning hundreds for diagnosis. I needed it back for my Joshua Tree camping so they released it to me. The diagnosis charge was $110. They said it was defective steering wheel switches. Had to make the 1200 mile trip without cruise. Ordered the switch set on-line for $120. Installation was relatively easy and it works again. Checked my mileage on the Palm Springs over the Grapevine to Madera leg. Got 13mpg on that leg. I was taking it easy in the truck lane.

Problem and solution all in one post. Yay!

On my Concourse the cruise wasn't working when I bought it. Same thing, had steering wheel buttons replaced (in my case I didn't do it myself though).
