House Battery Bank Wiring

Post by TheIceKing »

So we have a 2004 Summit 2700 with a 3-battery bank with a disconnect switch. However our local service center indicated that when the battery switch was switched to off, the battery bank still would deliver power to the coach. My questions I have is "does that seem like its wired correctly?" I would have thought that when the house battery switched to off, this should "kill" power to the entire coach.

easy way to tell is shut off the battery switch without being connected to shore power and see if your interior lights work. if they do not work your coach batteries are isolated

Noluck, thanks for the reply. I do understand that is a way to confirm the function, but my question I have is whether the battery switch's function is to kill all power to the house systems or should there still be some systems power at all times. We do have the original solar panel on the roof which should provide some battery charging when not connected to shore power, but I'm unsure if this will function properly if the house battery switch is turned to off.
